Though Soca is Highly Male Dominated Myney Is Showing That The Importance Of Female Soca Artistes Cannot Be Contradict

Although Soca is highly male dominated, the importance of female Soca artistes cannot be contradict. One such person is Herminey Cristal Victor” Myney” a Soca diva with a melodious voice, powerful lyrics and Grenada’s first and only female Road March winner to date.

Born in Snake Valley Port Of Spain Trinidad but moved to Grenada with her family as a child, proved to be a strategic move for her flourishing Soca career.

In 2008 Myney wrote her name in the history book of Grenada becoming the first female artiste to win the Road March title and award for the best female act of the year.

The journey began for the 27 year old mother of one when she stepped on to the stage at age 16. She knew then and there that music was in her veins. With a solid back ground in gospel and folk music genres under her belt, she paid her dues as background vocalist, before deciding to go solo in 2008.

In marketing her talent, she did commercials for Courts Grenada Ltd (Unicomer) melodically informing customers of the products.

She also enjoyed a stint as a radio personality, on Grenada’s Boss FM 104.1/104.9.

Through her diligence, commitment and professionalism, she was able to increase customer base, and loyalty which resulted in increased revenue for the station.

In 2015 the Soca diva spread her wings to pay homage to the roots calypso. And according to the artiste “branching off to the calypso arena was a time in her career where she thought she had to do more to challenge herself physically, mentally and spiritually.”

She says being a part of the Kingman’s calypso tent was rewarding because the tent aided in preparing her mentally, and it was an honour to be learning from the veteran Edison Ajamu Mitchell.

According to the singer he held her hand every step of the way, they wrote two beautiful song that people did enjoy. And although she didn’t made it to the semi-final of the competition she was elated to have made a great contribution to the culture.

Now that the countdown for spicemas 2016 has started myney says she intends to show how much she have grown and learnt, and with fingers cross hopefully she be in finals this year. The artiste got two fantastic song written by her management team Impulse a well-known writer from Trinidad who will also be featured in the Kingman Calypso Tent.

Myney also made her debut in Trinidad where she performed at several shows throughout the island, she also represented Grenada in the San Fernando Soca Monarch where she placed third with her hit song Rollin which was produced by (Dwayne Adigun Celestine) and she says it was a phenomenal experience being the first female artiste to place third in a Soca monarch outside Grenada.

Myney is now focus on maximizing her full potential by working assiduously to become the ultimate professional in her field, knowing that no hurdle is too high for her to overcome.

This female power house is moving with an accelerating pace to carve a place for herself in the industry that embraced her with open arms.

Spicemas 2016 the fans can expect a lot of releases from Myney like “Do me what you want on the Female Power Riddim Produced by Lyndon Pope, “Fakers” on the Jubilance Riddim produced by Adigun And Salty Sounds and her Hit Single “Bruk Out” written by Impulse and Produced By Ato William From #5 Production
