Employee Assistance Program Now A Reality

A work-place intervention program designed to enhance productivity by providing support for the emotional and mental health and well-being of public servants has been launched.

The Employee Assistance Program was launched on Wednesday June 22 as part of Public Service Week.

It offers a range of short term counseling and psychological services to address personal and work place challenges.

The program is being done in partnership with the Grenada Psychological Association, whose President Arlene Wildman says mental health is equally important as physical health.

“Our goal at the Grenada Psychological Association with this collaboration, is to provide an avenue so that employees can access help when you need it and to get the tools that will help you to cope and to lead productive and fulfilling lives,” Ms. Wildman said.

The program is being executed by the Department of Public Administration (DPA).

Prime Minister Dr. Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, under whose Ministry DPA falls, says they are concerned about the all-round development of workers.

“The most assured way to improve the quality of the public service delivery is through a cadre of competent public servants who are committed to serve with integrity and excellence,” Dr. Mitchell said.
