VCB, Stewart to be inducted in SEC’s Legend Class

CAMPBELL BROWN... won three Olympic gold medals

Jamaican Olympians Veronica Campbell Brown and Kerron Stewart are to be inducted into the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Women’s Legend Class  in 2017

The revelation was  made on Monday with Campbell Brown, who competed one season for the University of Arkansas in 2004 and Stewart, who ran for Auburn University 1996 and 1997 included in the list that comprised 13 athletes from several sporting disciplines and one coach.

Campbell Brown,  winner of  three Olympic gold medals, competed for Arkansas for one season after transferring from Barton County Community College, and “raced to the first team All-America honours at the indoor national meet during her first season — one of which came from a 200-metre gold”, read a release from Arkansas.

Stewart — who won a 100m silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, in the historic sweep of the top-three positions by Jamaican athletes, sharing the silver with Sherone Simpson — won a handful of honours at Auburn and was an eight-time All-American in her two years.

The Jamaican duo will be honoured, along with the others, at the 2017 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament, March 1-5 in Greenville, South Carolina.
