FIRST MICROCEPHALY CASE FOR GRENADA

Grenada in the last quarter of 2016 recorded its first case of microcephaly, Minister of Health Nicholas Steele has disclosed as a result of being quizzed on the issue by journalists on Tuesday 17th January.

He says the unidentified mother became affected with the Zika Virus during her pregnancy.

The Minister did not release the gender of the first case either but  said “We did not want to raise an alarm because we saw that as private.”

2 deaths from Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), was recorded in 2016, with some 10 or 11 cases he said.
