Grenada OECS Boxing Contingent won 8 Medals ,5 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze in St. Lucia

The 12 Member Grenadian Boxing Team who represented the Boxing Association of Grenada (BAG) at the 22nd OECS Boxing Tournament,held in St. Lucia arrived at the Maurice Bishop International Airport on Sunday afternoon to a heroic welcome.
Winning Gold  Medals for Grenada were
 1.Jerome Joseph – Lightweight,Sister Isle Carriacou
  2.Timon Gilbert – Light Heavyweight
 3. Rufus Vesprey – Light Welterweight,Sister Isle Carriacou
  4. Dariel Sylvester – Heavyweight,Sister Isle Carriacou
 5. Shevon Lewis – Super Heavyweight 
 Capturing silver Medals were:
 6. Jarvis Regis, – Welterweight and
 7.Nelon Cyrus-Bantam Weight 
 8.Joshua Redhead – Middleweight  got  the Bronze.
Accompanying the  Grenadian Boxing Team were AIBA Ring Side  Medical Commission Official,Dr.Deborah-Ann Stephens-John,AIBA 3 Star Coach,Sebastian Stiell,AIBA 1Star Refree/Judge Lyle Bullen Junior and Veteran Boxing Coach Nobert Grant,B.E.M.
President of B.A.G Johnson St.Louis speaking at the arrival said,that the Association will take up all training efforts and development programmes, for all aspects of Boxing and will try to attend most of the tournaments in the region, organised in the American Boxing Federation r and the International Boxing Association, in an effort to prepare Grenada, to send a powerful Boxing Team to The Summer Olympics Games in Tokoyo ,Japan in 2020.

It is worthwhile noting that, Grenada have  won the  OECS  Boxing Championships 16 times out of 22 occassions over the years.
ThePresident of the St.Lucian Boxing Federation and Organiser of the OECS Championship.Mr.DavidChristopher said tha Grenada  have a very good team of Boxers, pleasant and respectful boys,keep them in good hands and the Caribbean will benefit a lot.
