CANNES, France – The annual Cannes Film Festival is famous for attracting some of the world’s most glittering celebrities, but all eyes were on Barbados’ superstar Rihanna last week as she co-hosted a dinner and gala to celebrate the launch of her collaboration with luxury Swiss jewellery brand Chopard.
The Bajan songstress confirmed her collaboration with Chopard on her Instagram page last month.
The jewellery line was officially unveiled in Cannes and will land in up-market stores this summer.
Chopard, a favoured choice of the rich and famous, hosted two star-studded events in Cannes as an official partner of the annual film festival.
Making this year’s events more exciting, moreover, the brand is commemorating the festival’s 70th anniversary by creating a diamond-set edition of the coveted Palme d’Or – the highest prize that can be won at Cannes and the French equivalent of an Oscar.
Last Thursday night, at a dinner co-hosted by Chopard president Caroline Scheufele, Rihanna exuded vintage Hollywood glamour in a black tulle gown by Ralph & Russo which accentuated an elegant Chopard diamond choker and matching earrings, as well as a dazzling coordinating wristwatch.
A host of A-list stars attended the dinner, including actress Julianne Moore, who had attended the premiere of her new film Moonstruck earlier on in the day; model Winnie Harlow; fellow model Petra Nemcova; actor Aidan Turner, and Thai actress Chompoo Araya Hargate.
On Friday night, Rihanna and Scheufele hosted a space-themed party at Port Pierre Canto with a dress code reading “Galactic with a touch of diamonds.”
Rihanna, 29, was the belle of the ball in a pale blue Victoriana gown with a tight corset bodice and draped off-the-shoulder sleeves, accessorised with striking tribal jewels in glistening teal and silver.
Reality TV star and model Kendall Jenner sported a sapphire and diamond earrings and necklace set, while Winnie Harlow dazzled in a silver and emerald necklace.
Other celebrities in attendance included supermodel Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, Eva Herzigova, Sara Sampaio, Arizona Muse and Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana.
