NYPD Grenadian Officers Make Donation To RGPF

NEW YORK – The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) will be the recipient of about 100 bullet proof vests through the generosity of Grenadian-born officers of the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
The group of 40 officers have raised funds to purchase needy items for the RGPF.

The main fundraiser was a BINGO event which raised about $7,000. Lieutenant Nimrod Ollivierre and PO Moses Charles made personal contributions towards purchasing of the vests.
There were also donations from other members of NYPD with Grenadian heritage as well as other Non-Grenadian Officers in the NYPD including Detective First Grade Aubrey Henry which facilitated the payment of broker fees, customs, port charges and shipment to Grenada.

On Wednesday, three of the officers – Lt Ollivierre, PO Dave Fleary and PO Auda Nelson – joined community organiser, Heron ‘Rocking J’ Douglas in arranging and packing the vests for shipment to Grenada.

The NYPD Grenadian Officers Organisation was formed to assist the RGPF with needed items including vests, radios and other police equipment as well as share policing knowledge and expertise in other specialised areas of policing.

Last year the group of officers also made a financial donation to the widow of Corporal Daniel Edgar of the RGPF who was shot and killed in the line of duty last April.
