Minister Of Youth Held Interactive Sessions With Imani Trainees

Hillsborough, Carriacou, September 16, 2022- More than 100 youth, who are part of the Imani programme in Carriacou, have been reassured that their training and job placement will continue with the NDC Government that was elected on June 23.

Ministers Tevin Andrews and Ron Redhead gave the assurance, saying the government is also looking at ways of making the programme one that will have more positive outcomes for participants.

Redhead, Minister for Youth, Sports & Culture, and Andrews, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government, were speaking with the Imani trainees at their first engagement with them, since assuming office.

Minister Redhead said dialogue will be held with the private sector to assist in finding permanent employment for the Imanis. However, he encouraged them to look at further skills training development that will make them more employable.

He said that he would like to see a change in the MPower program, which now only caters for males. The Minister would like to see the inclusion of female participants.

Hon. Andrews said that new job opportunities will soon be available for people in Carriacou and Petite Martinique, as Government is presently engaged in discussions with several investors.

Manager of the New Imani Programme, Jessie Cumberbatch, who also addressed the special meeting, said they are now looking to partner with T.A. Marryshow Community College to provide additional CVQ programmes in areas such as early childhood education, entrepreneurship and office administration.
