Hillsborough, September 16, 2022- A technical school for Carriacou and Petite Martinique is part of the long-term goal of Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Tevin Andrews.
The Minister made reference to the school while he, along with Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Ron Redhead, were visiting a training session in small boat engine repairs in Carriacou. The participants in the training are 14 young men.
Hon. Andrews, noting the role Carriacou plays in the fishing and marine sector, said it’s important that there is trained personnel.
Minister Redhead, in brief remarks, said while his Ministry is committed to training programmes for young people, the youth must embrace the training to gain meaningful employment, including the possible formation of cooperatives.
The training will conclude within two weeks.
