Grenada is set to make its inaugural appearance at the Chess Olympiad.
The Caribbean island will send a team to compete in the 45th edition of the international event, scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from September 10 to 23, 2024.
The Grenada Chess Federation unveiled Team Grenada during the Chess Camp 2024, held at the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School Auditorium from August 19 to 23, 2024.
The male team representing Grenada comprises six talented players: Renniel Gilbert, Tyler Thomas, Javon James, Gennard Roberts, Carlyle Glean Jr., and Vladimir Mendez.
On the female side, Grenada will be represented by Rockisha Flanders, Achazia Lewis, Naziyah James, Tauriel Frank, Bernel Chitan, and Denise Bouah.
The Chess Olympiad, often referred to as the Olympics of chess, is a biennial tournament where teams from all over the world compete.
It’s the most prestigious team event in the chess calendar, attracting top players and emerging talents alike.
