Grenlec is proud to announce that a five-member team from our Transmission and Distribution Department departed for Jamaica on Sunday, November 9, 2025, to assist the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) in restoring electricity following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
This deployment is part of the regional cooperation framework among Caribbean electric utilities, coordinated by the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC). The Grenlec team will work alongside utility crews from across the region to help restore power safely and efficiently to communities affected by the hurricane.
Grenlec — and Grenada by extension — has previously benefited from this CARILEC-organized mutual aid. Most recently, in 2024, regional utilities assisted Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique in restoring electricity after Hurricane Beryl. These cooperative efforts continue to strengthen the resilience and solidarity of Caribbean electricity providers.
“We are incredibly proud of our team for responding to this call to serve,” said [Spokesperson Name, Title]. “Their expertise, dedication, and teamwork demonstrate Grenlec’s professionalism and our shared commitment to supporting our neighbors in times of need.”
Grenlec invites the public to join us in wishing the team a safe and successful mission as they contribute to the restoration of power in Jamaica.
