ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) — Exiled left-hander Darren Bravo has been included in a West Indies 13-man squad announced on Tuesday to face England in the first Test starting at Kensington Oval in Barbados later this month.
The 29-year-old last played a Test for the Windies 28 months ago in a three-match series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates.
He was controversially sent home following that tour for an ill-advised Twitter rant aimed at Cricket West Indies president Dave Cameron, leading to a stand-off with the regional board which left him side-lined from international cricket for two years.
The Trinidadian was called up for the Twenty20 four of India last November and the subsequent one-day series in Bangladesh the following month.
Meanwhile, the uncapped Windies A pair of Shamarh Brooks and John Campbell have gained call-ups, while fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has returned as expected after regaining full fitness.
There is no room for leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo while left-handed opener Kieran Powell has been also dropped.
SQUAD – Jason Holder (captain), Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Shamarh Brooks, John Campbell, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican, Shannon Gabriel.
