As of February 1st Kelvin Jacob, will serve as the Chief Executive Officer at the Spice Mas Corporation (SMC).
The announcement of the Appointment of the St.David’s Mas band leader , who is also a Vice Principal was made by Culture Minister Norland Cox on Wednesday 30th January.
“Jacob would be seconded to the Position for Period of two years,” the Minister told a press conference at the Ministry of Works & Communications Conference Room.
Jacob comes to the new position with a wealth of experience in the cultural field. Jacob holds a Master’s Degree in Carnival Studies from the University of Trinidad and Tobago and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from St. George’s University.
He has judged various Mas and Pageants in Grenada and Trinidad and including the formation of his own Ignite Mas Band within the Parish of St.David’s.Jacob has also been influential in the Children’s Carnival Frolic at the St.Joseph’s R.C School .
The former CEO Kirk Seetahal tendered his resignation last year after serving in that capacity since October 1st, 2015.
As a result of his appointment Ignite Grenada, has announced that their Mas Band would not be competing in CCF 2019.While they will be crossing the stage, they will not be judged.
While the appointment comes only a few months before the 2019 Carnival season, Minister Cox admitted that he believed ,”A fresh face, fresh ideas .”
The New CEO says he will be addressing the media on his intentions with the SMC in the coming months.
