Motorists in Grenada will have to think twice before drinking and driving as on December 16, the Royal Grenada Police Force plans to roll out the breathalyzer and enforce the country’s DUI legislation.
Grenada’s government hopes this will reduce fatalities over the Christmas period.
Acting Police of Chief, Edvin Martin, says the breathalyzer will finally empower officers with the authority to carry out testing on motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Martin said: “It is my hope the implementation of the breathalyzer will act as a deterrent, changes attitudes on drinking and driving and improve road safety for pedestrians and motorists alike.”
The driving and drinking limit will be 70 microgrammes per hundred millimeters of breath and anything over this threshold will become an offense.
