Grenada Participates In IDA 19 High-Level Dialogue In Miami

Grenada is being represented at the World Bank’s International Development Association’s (IDA) High-Level Meeting with the Eastern Caribbean, which is taking place in Miami this week.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, and Minister for Climate Resilience and the Environment, Senator Simon Stiell, are among Government representatives from the Eastern Caribbean attending the meeting, along with representatives from the World Bank.

The High-Level Dialogue is intended to discuss strategic priorities in preparation for the utilisation of IDA 19 resources, from July 2020 to June 2023. Blue economy and renewable energy are particular areas of focus for the meeting.

According to the invitation letter from the World Bank, “the purpose is to have an evidence-based dialogue, reach a joint understanding on the state of play in these areas, and assess the potential for future IDA 19 supported engagement and development results.”

IDA 19 resources for Grenada, Dominica St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are estimated at US $350 million.

Under IDA 18, Grenada benefitted from US $74 million that supported Government’s resilience-building and digital transformation agendas and other strategic areas. The IDA resources were in the form of two policy based loans, valued at US $50 million to support climate resilience and fiscal sustainability; $15 million for Digital Governance for Resilience Project; US $6 million for a regional health project and US $3 million, in additional support for CARCIP Project.
