Ministry Of Agriculture and The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) Launches Praedialarceny Hotline

 

Ministry of Agriculture-As part of the efforts to curb theft within the Agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands in Collaboration with the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) Launched the praedialarceny hotline that would serve local farmers.

This hotline number 473-435-0300 (300), launched in the first quarter of 2020 strengthens the Ministry’s commitment to lessening instances of the crime.

Minister of Agriculture and Lands Hon. Yolande Bain-Horsford during a special media launch on Tuesday 18th February expressed her gratitude to the Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Edvin Martin and other officers within the force that contributed to the launch of this new hotline.

The RGPF will be responsible for the operationalization and maintenance of the hotline at the 24 hour Police Control Center.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr.Michael Francios at the media launch said the new hotline allows farmers to report instances of the crime promptly.

Among other initiatives directed at curbing the crime is that of the amendment to the praedialarceny act, that is expected to be tabled at the first sitting of parliament this year.

The Ministry according to Minister Bain-Horsford will commence a “rigorous public awareness and education campaign having recognized the need to have greater public participation in the fight against praedialarceny.”

The Ministry of Agriculture also donated a total of fifty (50) boots to the praedialarceny task force.
