Norwegian University Urges Students To Return Home From The U.S., Cites ‘Poorly Developed Health Services’

The U.S. health-care system? The Norwegian University of Science and Technology clearly isn’t impressed, so it’s urging students studying there to come home immediately.

“When you plan your return journey, it is important to keep in mind that a number of countries are now closing their borders,” the university continued. “If possible, you should avoid travel routes where you might get stuck in another country where conditions are worse and where the risk of coronavirus infection is greater than where you are now.”

The university later tweaked the language in the Facebook FB, +10.23% post so as not to single out the United States, but by then, the slight emerged as a top-trending topic across social media:

The U.S. health-care system has come under increased scrutiny in recent days as the coronavirus outbreak spreads across the country. According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of cases in the U.S., as of Sunday, had grown to at least 2,952.

Norway, of course, is also grappling with the pandemic, as the latest tally of confirmed cases within its borders topped 1,000. After implementing drastic measures last week to halt the spread of the virus, Norway, as of Monday morning, is shutting down its airports to foreign visitors.
