MIRAMAR, HAVANA, CUBA-On April 14th 1979, Grenada and Cuba established diplomatic relations and this has blossomed into an unbreakable friendship, solidarity and cooperation.
In light of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Cuba has once again shown its commitment to our people by sending their health professionals to our shores to fight this dreaded disease.
Cuba over the years has taught us the lessons of resilience, the importance of internationalism and the meaning of sacrifice.
Grenada has benefitted immensely from the Cuban Government and its people in the areas of health, education, fisheries, communication and culture. We cannot forget their building of our hospital and the Maurice Bishop International airport which is now the gateway to our economic development.
For all of the above and more, our people are eternally appreciative. Grenadians will thus continue to stand up proudly in solidarity with Cuba against the US economic blockade and the illegal occupation of Guantanamo Bay.
We celebrate this 41st anniversary with a toast and revolutionary hug to all the healthcare workers of both nations on the frontline of this new battle against Covid-19.
