Traffic markings on the roads of St. George’s town are imperative in the busy heart of the city for the safety of motorists and pedestrians alike. To ensure their visibility, constant upkeep is required, which can often only take place when traffic patterns are at their lowest.
In recent weeks the residents of St. George would have noticed the efforts of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) as they undertook the required maintenance work during the quieter weekend periods.
Bright and early last Sunday morning the RGPF and 11 CIBC FirstCaribbean team members joined forces to give these essential directional signs a facelift in the interests of maintaining and enhancing their visibility.
The work was done as part of the bank’s five year partnership with the RGPF under its “Adopt-A-Cause” programme, which has as one of its goals, encouraging a spirit of volunteerism within bank employees throughout the region. In good spirits both teams worked tirelessly throughout the entire morning and refreshed the town of St. George’s important street markings.
Country Head, Nigel Ollivierre, who also took part in the repainting said “this is exactly the type of project that we want to be involved in – we have built up a rapport and team spirit with the Traffic Department at the RGPF and an understanding that this type of project is something ongoing. We know they already have a huge workload but that they are committed to keeping our roads safe for all and we are therefore pleased to be able to offer some level of support”, he concluded.
