 12 November 2018 Pure Grenada, the Spice of the Caribbean and partners further enhanced the positive global profile of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique with a showcase of excellence and participation at World Travel Market (WTM, 5-7 November) in London. Atthe world’s largest travel industry exhibition, Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) CEO, Patricia Maher confirmed that the islands are on track to welcome 500,000 visitors in 2018 – record tourism numbers for the tri-island destination.

Patricia Maher said: “We’re on track to meet our target of 500,000 overall visitors to Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique this year and being at World Travel Market provides an unrivalled opportunity to champion Grenada to the global travel industry and media.”

Pure Grenada UK Tour Operators Showcase

On 1 November, Her Excellency Kisha Grant, High Commissioner Designate for Grenada joined Pure Grenada in hosting an exclusive evening at The Garden Museum in central London to thank and reward valued industry and media partners. A Grenadian-inspired three-course dinner was served to 50 guests who also enjoyed cultural entertainment. Nine nutmeg-design awards, handmade in Grenada, were presented, including recognition for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show teams who have secured 14 gold medals over twenty years, led by Suzanne Gaywood MBE (1998-2014) and Catherine John (2015 to present).

Designer Pure Grenada Stand Creates Buzz at WTM

Grenada Tourism Authority Chair, Brenda Hood; CEO Patricia Maher; and GTA Marketing Manager, Francine Stewart led the Pure Grenada delegation, supported by the Grenada UK team. This year, the branded exhibition spaceprovided a chic hub for meetings and networking with a contemporary design incorporating images of Grand Anse beach and the islands’ vibrant flora, in addition to destination videos.

At WTM, Pure Grenada met with senior representatives of the two UK airlines that serve Grenada, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, and other airlines, as well as decision-makers from over 25 leading tour operators including Virgin Holidays, Kuoni, Caribtours, Scott Dunn, Classic Collection and Sunsail and Moorings.The delegation also attended industry professionals’ and travel media networking events and destination training was provided for expert travel agents throughout the show.

British Guild of Travel Writers Gala Dinner

Her Excellency Kisha Grant and GTA Chair, Brenda Hoodhosted media including contributors to Metro, Sunday Express and The Sun national newspapers at the prestigious British Guild of Travel Writers Gala Dinner.The star-prize in the charity raffle at the premiere annual networking event for UK travel media, was a four-night stay at Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel and return Virgin Atlantic flights from London Gatwick to Grenada, presented by Brenda Hood.
