Joint Statement by Government’s Pension Engagement Committee and Public Sector Trade Unions and Staff Associations (Grenada Technical and Allied Workers Union, Grenada Union of Teachers, Public Workers Union, Police Gazetted Officers’ Association, Police Welfare Association and Prison Officers’ Welfare Association)
November 27, 2018 – Government’s Pension Engagement Committee (PEC) met today, November 27, 2018, with the Public Sector Trade Unions and Staff Associations engaged in negotiations with Government on pension restoration and reform.
At today’s meeting, it was agreed that the Pension Engagement Committee will provide requested data to the Trade Unions and Staff Associations by Friday, November 30, 2018.
It was also agreed that the Pension Engagement Committee will provide new proposals on pension restoration and reform to the Trade Unions and Staff Associations by Tuesday, December 4th, 2018.
The Pension Engagement Committee and Trade Unions and Staff Associations also agreed that negotiations will resume on Friday, December 7, 2018.
Further, there will be no industrial action while the negotiations are ongoing.
Both the Government and the workers’ representative bodies have recommitted themselves to finding an amicable resolution to the issue of pension restoration and reform.
