Beausejour, Carriacou – January 3rd, 2019- Officials from the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, upon an assessment of the erosion taking place along the Harvey Vale Main Road yesterday, made the construction of a 200 feet long Sea Defense Wall a priority within the first quarter of 2019.
The project will consist of the construction of a gabion wall to protect the Harvey Vale Main Road from further undermining from the erosion caused by rising sea levels in the area.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Ms. Rholda Quamina, said that the assessment was necessary to obtain first hand information of the situation in best designing a suitable project for the area.
She added that the architectural drawings for the project is presently ongoing and the project is expected to commence within the first quarter of 2019.
