Southern Ring-road Network Completed on the Sister-Isle

Beausejour, Carriacou – January 26th, 2019- To mark the completion of the Belle Vue South Road Project and Carriacou’s southern ring-road network, a grand ceremonial opening was held yesterday in celebration of this milestone achievement.

The final phase of the project started in 2013 and was completed in January 2019.

The project seeks to provide an improved road network to residents of the southern communities such as Belle Vue South, Belmont and Harvey Vale in the tune of E.C $1.4 Million.

Minister with responsibility for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Kindra Maturine-Stewart, said that though her many efforts and commitment in bringing the project to completion, credit must be given to Mr. Elvin G. Nimrod who have brought the project a very long way.

She stated that as representative for the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, she will ensure that the island’s fair shares are given.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Ms. Rholda Quamina, in her supportive remarks, singled out the sacrifices by residents of the area and applauded the contractors who have worked on the project.

The project also received high commendation by President of the Carriacou Owners and Drivers Association, Mr. Joshua Emmons, and residents of the area.

Mr. Emmons championed the call for government to place it’s focus on improving the road network in the northern communities of Bogles, Cherry-Hill, Meldrum and Limlair.
