Grenada maintains that they would like to see cash strapped airline the Leeward Islands Air Transport (LIAT) continue to provide service region.
Minister of Trade, Industry , Cooperatives and CARICOM Affairs Hon Oliver Joseph on Tuesday 5th said that in order to contribute state resources to the cash strapped airline, they must be restructured.
He was speaking at Tuesday’s post Cabinet Briefing at the Ministry of Works Conference Room , In St.George.
The well-known Caribbean airline has been under financial pressure;Trinidad’s Prime Minister Dr.Keith Rowley last week reported that the airline only had days cash-on-hand left, to continue operations.
Joseph said that The Grenadian government have requested a formula from the airline to assist in determining the amount it need s to contribute.
Joseph says there should be type of Political influence on the board.
LIAT founded in 1974 is said to be in need of a $5 million infusion of cash.
