The Grenada Chapter of the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN), in support of Earth Hour 2019, will be hosting an environmental fair and lights out concert.
Earth Hour event is a global grassroots environmental initiative held annually on the last Saturday in March. Earth hour began in Sydney Australia in 2007 to raise awareness of Climate Change by encouraging all lights to be turned off for one hour between 8:30 – 9:30 pm local time. It has since expanded into a medium through which environmental issues are brought to the fore front of public conversations. The event has grown over the years to engage more than 162 countries and territories worldwide, including Grenada. CYEN Grenada has been the official organiser for Earth Hour in Grenada since 2012.
The environmental fair and movie will commence at 4:30 pm, at Quarantine Point, followed by our lights out concert from 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm, after which live band entertainment closes off the event at 11:30 pm. Local NGOs and other environmental entities will be in attendance showcasing their work and raising awareness of issues which affect our environment.
CYEN invites the public to support Earth Hour 2019.
