RGPF Appeals For Safe Kite Flying Practices

With kite flying being one of the greatest traditions around this time of the year, the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) is appealing to kite flyers to be considerate and conscious about safe practices. The public is reminded that unsafe practices in kite flying pose a danger to human life, health and safety of the general public.

Those engaged in the practice of leaving droning kites to fly at night are reminded that it is against the law to do so. A special appeal is being made to refrain from so doing.

Kite flyers are encouraged to fly kites in open areas and away from electricity poles, overhead power lines and other obstacles, and to refrain from leaving kites unattended while flying.

Flying kites near to the airport is prohibited by law.  No-fly areas include, but are not limited to, Calliste, Frequente, Fort Jeudy, St. Paul’s, Mt. Parnassus and Mt. Moritz and the vicinity of Lauriston Airport in Carriacou.
