After a six-year break, the Fishing Capital of Grenada will see the return of the hosting of the two-day Gouyave Easter Regatta on the Gouyave Bay (L’Anse) on 21st and 22nd April, 2019. This year, R & A Promotions will collaborate with NLA-BLAST, official providers of video-lottery products in Grenada, to hold the all-day events from 9 a.m. daily. As this year’s title sponsor, NLA-BLAST has pledged a contribution of over EC$25,000 to mark the 26th year of the Regatta’s existence.
The Gouyave Easter Regatta will showcase fourteen locally-built work-boats with crews from a number of fishing-communities around Grenada, including Woburn, Sauteurs and Gouyave, contending to become champions on the sea. A number of other water-sports are lined up, including canoe and engine boat races, and swimming. On-shore competitions include football, greasy-pole climbing, fishing and strong-man races. Both local and foreign spectators are expected to be at the event to experience this rich, water-sports tradition and the skills and talents of some of Grenada’s fisher-folks. Patrons can expect live performances from popular Grenadian artistes and local cuisine.
NLA-BLAST’s sponsorship of this event is in keeping with NLA’s commitment to support sports, culture and nation-building within the Grenada. In February, the company co-sponsored the Grenada Sailing Festival Work-Boat Regatta in the south of the island. In addition to its title sponsorship of the Gouyave Easter Regatta, NLA-BLAST specially supports a Gouyave All-Women Sailing Team at the festival – an initiative geared towards empowering women within the Gouyave community.
