The second annual 12°N61°W Grenadian Film Festival (1261FilmFestival) will take place from May 2 – 9, 2020. The festival is currently accepting submissions until January 31, 2020.

Created by Grenadian born filmmaker Meschida Philp, the 1261FilmFestival aims to provide creative spaces domestically and internationally for fellow independent artists that encourage resource sharing, artistic collaboration, and connection with a global audience.

The inaugural 2019 season, featured twenty-two Grenadian creatives, including filmmakers, actors, photographers, cinematographers, editors. Fifty (50) films from thirteen (13) countries, including Grenada, the Caribbean region, and internationally was screened. The 1261FilmFestival also facilitated workshops in film production, film distribution, crowdfunding for films, and script development workshops. The creative team has also toured internationally, bringing Grenadian and broader Caribbean content to audiences in North America in places like New York and Massachusetts. We have also crossed the pond into England and made stops at Birmingham and London, as part of the 1261 International Film Series.

2019 was a remarkable year, but they’ve got their sights on an even more spectacular 2020.

The 1261FilmFestival is more than just film screenings, it also includes an array of film industry workshops, film discussions, networking events, and after-parties built into the festival’s experience, centered around Caribbean culture and experiences globally. The 1261FilFestival team strongly encourages Grenadian filmmakers domestically and in the diaspora to submit their materials for consideration and to have their work screened alongside other international independent films.
