CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than 100 people departed Saturday morning on the first flight from Charlotte to Grenada.
American Airlines launched the service with Caribbean music and inaugural certificates. The plane also got a water cannon salute on the tarmac.
The new Charlotte flight will complement American Airlines’ existing daily flights from Miami to the island.
“I’m very, very excited about this flight. We have more opportunities to leave and go straight home, and I think it will be exciting for other people to get the chance to learn about Grenada, to visit and not have to worry about catching the flights in between,” said passenger Keisha Bridgman.
The flight at Charlotte Douglass International Airport will only be on Saturdays.
