Last year, Hollice Mapp picked up the Soca Monarch title and literally ran with it.
This year he wants to keep it.
Hollice Mapp, who became the first non-national to win the Soca Monarch, held a media conference to discuss his plans for 2020.
The soca Monarch king says “I am not just in Trinidad and Tobago for the competition but to have the time of my life, to enjoy carnival with lots of my celebrity friends”.
Mapp says his career has grown tremendously from bookings to other thing. “Since winning the title almost 12 months ago it has been a very exciting and very tiring year but overall a great year”.
Mr Mapp before ending his press conference said “I personally do not have a problem with the dancehall music being played at carnival time.”
He also noted that “In Jamaica they play soca from Grenada, Trinidad and the rest of the Caribbean and soca in General.
