Grenadian Batsmen – Fletcher, Smith & Stewart – Featured In Volcanoes’ Dawn Match

Red Force (373-9 dec) drew with Volcanoes 293-8 at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica

Andre Fletcher gave proof of his experience to lead resolute batting on the final day from Windward Islands Volcanoes, earning them a draw with visiting Trinidad & Tobago Red Force in their rain-marred match.

Fletcher, playing his first match for the Volcanoes in almost three years, led the way with 88 and was one of three batsmen that passed 50, coincidentally all three are Grenadians.

Left-handed opener Devon Smith made 67 and former West Indies Under-19 captain Emmanuel Stewart gathered 56.

Resuming from their close of play total of 71 for two on the second day, the Volcanoes chose discretion as the best part of valour when play started.

Fletcher completed a stand of 63 for the third wicket with Smith before he paired with Stewart to share 111 for the fifth wicket.

Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein was the most successful Red Force bowler, taking 4-61 from 35 overs.

Jason Mohammed was named Player of the Match for scoring his 10th Championship hundred of 118 in the Red Force first innings.

The two sides held onto their mid-table positions after the completion of the match.
