The 4th annual Grenada Invitational was officially launched today, at the Radisson Beach Resort, St. George’s.
The Invitational’s Athletes Liaison, Marvin Anderson, announced an impressive line-up of Olympians, World Champions and generally World Class Athletes who will compete here in Grenada, at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium on Saturday April 04th, 2020.
Double Olympic medallists Elaine Thompson and Kirani James along Yohan Blake leads an impressive and exciting cast as the Road to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics makes its stop in Grenada.
Other Grenadian athletes included in the cast are the 2019 World Champion in Javelin, Anderson Peters and Olympian Lindon Victor.
Other athletes named at the Wednesday’s launch include;
Briana Williams (Double World Junior Champion 100m/200m from Jamaica)
Kendra Harrison (World Record Holder 100MH from the USA)
Tajay Gayle (2019 World Champion Long Jump from Jamaica)
Justin Gatlin (Olympian and World Champion 100m/200m from the USA)
Blessings Okabare (African record-holder in the 200m from Nigeria)
Aaron Brown (Olympic Bronze medallist in Rio 2016 from Canada)
Zharnel Hughes (Anguillan-born sprinter who now represents Great Britain)
Asafa Powell (The Sub-10 King running under the ten-second mark in the 100m- ten times)
The 4th edition of the Grenada Invitational will include a segment of about 14 track and field events featuring Local (Grenadian Athletes) and a parade of Past Olympians, a fitting tribute in an Olympic year, to those who proudly represented Grenada in the Summer Olympics from 1984 to 2016.
