SAMS Lends Support To Government Vaccination Drive

Press Release

St Augustine’s Medical Services (SAMS) has joined the nationwide drive to have as many persons as possible receive the Covid-19 vaccination.

The private medical centre received supplies of the vaccine, and the official stamp of approval, to commence administering on 12 April 2021.

Dr Lutz Amechi, Resident Physician and co-owner stated, “We are very pleased to be able to support the people and Government of Grenada, in what is basically a global initiative. The vaccine, ChAdox1nCoV-19, has the same formulation as the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. This is the vaccine currently being dispensed across Grenada.”

“We would like to reassure persons that, as with all other vaccination centres, getting the vaccine here at SAMS is also without cost to them, appointments are necessary as we need to administer the vaccine in batches of 10 so as not to waste any doses. This is a precious commodity,” he concluded.

Persons wishing receive either their first or second dose of the vaccine, at SAMS, can do so by making an appointment to attend, Monday to Friday 8 am to 3 pm, Saturday 8 am to 11 am. Individuals attending to receive a second dose of the vaccine, must produce the certificate of vaccination received on having their first dose administered.

Vaccination continues to take place at all health centres in Grenada and Carriacou.
