Swimmers Leave This Week For Cali, Columbia

The four National swimmers selected to participate in the first, Junior Pan American Long Course Swimming Championships scheduled for the 25th to the 30th November, depart this week for Cali, Columbia where the games will be held. National swimmers, Anaika Charles, Zackary Gresham, Gabrielle Hyson and Kerry Ollivierre have been engaged in a series of rigorous training in preparation for the event.

Two of the swimmers, Anaika and Zackary left Grenada on, Sunday, while the other two, Gabrielle and Kerry who are out of state, leave on Wednesday. Coach Gerson Escobar Fernandez, their coach, will accompany the team.

The swimmers will participate in the following events: Anaika Charles will compete in the ladies’ 100m Freestyle, 100m Breast Stroke and 200m Breast Stroke, Gabrielle Hyson, 200 m Free Style, 50 m Free Style and 50 m Butterfly, while in the men’s events Zackary Gresham will participate in the 100m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke and the 200m IM and Kerry Ollivierre, the 50m Free Style and 100m Free Style.

The Grenada Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) wishes the athletes a safe journey and every bit of success in their events.
