Beausejour, Carriacou– The Hillsborough Botanical Garden Revitalisation Project in Carriacou was officially launched over the weekend, signaling the start of beautification and celebrating major strides made on the project to date.
Work includes fencing of the parameters, topography, horticulture, construction of benches and gazebos, a children’s playground, an interpretation center, picnic area and a boardwalk over the nearby Hillsborough Pond which is also incorporated in the project.
The project by Hon. Kindra Maturine- Stewart, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, is being undertaken by the Division of Agriculture in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government.
Minister Maturine-Stewart says the project was promised during the 2018 election campaign and is happy to see it come to fruition.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Ms. Rholda Quamina, and Resident of the community, Bensford Roberts, also spoke at the project launch, which also included a tea party.
