The Grenada Football Association (GFA) salutes the National U14 Boys team and coaching staff for their passion and determination in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U14 Boys Challenge Series. The team played their final two (2) matches in the tournament on Wednesday and Thursday (August 17 & 18), losing 4-1 to St.Lucia and 8-0 to Martinique, the latter match seeing Grenada being plagued by injuries.
In the match against St.Lucia, Raheem Raeburn was Grenada’s goal scorer in the 31st minute of play.
Outstanding players during the tournament were goalkeeper Neon Smart who delivered some amazing saves, Raheem Raeburn, Delron John, Taneil Morain and Izion Frazer.
In applauding the entire team, President of the GFA Marlon Glean said, “This is a development tournament and an introduction to international football. The Challenge Series provided some solid experience for the team. They see where they are now and the work they have to put in to go further. We salute them for representing Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.”
Speaking at the end of Grenada’s Challenge Series campaign, Head Coach of the U14 National Team Tyron ‘Pele’ John said, “I am pleased to see how the young stars gave their all in this tournament despite the challenges. We learnt a lot as a team and the coaching staff is willing to come back home and work with the players to reach our goal as a nation.
The CFU Challenge Series serves as an introduction to international competition while allowing youth players to work on their overall game and deportment.
