Youth Symposium Held In Carriacou

Hillsborough, Carriacou, September 16, 2022-The Hon. Ron Redhead, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, has outlined several critical lessons to the youth of Carriacou, including the importance of knowing the nation’s history.

The Minister, addressing students at a youth symposium, also underscored the need to obtain a sound academic foundation, but added that the acquisition of skills is equally important.

Hon. Redhead also pledged Government’s full support to the young people, through his Ministry’s various programmes.

The symposium, which was held for the Form 4’s and 5’s of Bishop’s College and Hillsborough Secondary School, was also addressed by Hon. Tevin Andrews, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Hon. Tevin Andrews.

He said the formation of youth groups, to help develop youth in a positive way, is critical.

Part of the symposium involved a mix of songs and motivational speeches, as well a speech from Guest Speaker Dr. Fleur Patrice, Director of T.A. Marryshow Community College Six Roads Campus.

She focused on the importance of lifelong learning, noting that while it is important to excel in the academics, the soft skills are as equally important.

This was the second youth symposium hosted by the Ministry of Youth.
