Debut Of Grenadian Short Film “Forget Me Not”

Grenadian Filmmaker and Writer Amanda R. John, premiered her first short film “Forget Me Not” in a private screening on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. The screening was held by producers of the film, Brainstorm Media Solutions, formerly known as Brainstorm Productions, at the Grenada Olympic House. The 15-minute short film, which spotlights dementia in senior citizens, features an all Grenadian cast and crew, with the accomplished Robert Whyte and talented Rose Bhagwan starring.

Hon. Ron Redhead applauded Amanda and her team for the excellent production, commenting on the high quality and timeliness of the film. The Minister broke the news that Government has taken a new policy decision to place the Film

Commission under the banner of the creative industry in the Ministry of Economic Development, which he said will help give life to the film industry and generate the potential that it can produce for creatives in Grenada

The film received raving reviews from its small audience, which included Minister of State with Responsibility for Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Ron Redhead, Hon. Andy WilliamsMinister for Mobilization, Implementation and Transformation, Mrs Naomi De Allie, Managing Director at Republic Bank (Grenada) Ltd., corporate sponsor for the film and representatives from the Commonwealth Foundation, the primary sponsors of the film.

The film represents the first of its kind, being one of ten Caribbean films out of hundreds selected by the Commonwealth Foundation to be developed to showcase authentic Caribbean content across the region and at International Film Festivals. The film will officially premiere at the upcoming 1261 Film Festival in Grenada, which will be held from October 26-30, 2022.

In her remarks, Mrs De Allie underscored the value the local creative economy presents for a lucrative alternative future for the Caribbean and saluted Amanda as a local woman entrepreneur in this field.
