Hillsborough, Carriacou, A two-day sports training session, covering theory and practice, has been completed for persons who will be assigned to primary schools as physical education teachers in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The session was conducted by Senior Swimming Coach Nataly Regis, who was supported in the training by Physical Education Teacher at the Hillsborough Secondary School Ayana Bartholomew.
Regis said a grassroots approach is being taken to ensure that the nation’s athletes are properly trained in the different sporting disciplines. She also said the promotion of healthy lifestyles is part of a new thrust.
Participants at the training also expressed their gratitude for the knowledge imparted, including learning new techniques to better develop themselves as physical education teachers.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports renewed consultation on the implementation of the National Policy on Sports and Physical Activity is moving to Carriacou and Petite Martinique. On Thursday, November 3rd, consultations will be held at the Carriacou Multipurpose Centre from 5 p.m.; and in Petite Martinique on Friday, November 4th, from 3 p.m. Persons are encouraged to come out and give their input.
