A major contribution to the education sector in Carriacou by one of Grenada’s leading shipping agencies has been welcomed by the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs.
Tropical Shipping Grenada has launched a “Grenadines Scholarship Programme’’ for students of the two (2) secondary schools. The programme, for students of Bishop’s College and Hillsborough Secondary School, is valued at over $13,000.00.
At an awards’ ceremony and scholarship presentation, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government, Javan Williams, said that this kind of partnership with Tropical Shipping augurs well for education in the state. He admonished the students to plan well and to think constructively about moving forward.
Cheney Joseph, Island Manager of Tropical Shipping, said the company is committed to the development of education and referenced Timothy Antoine, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. Joseph told the scholarship awardees to see themselves as future leaders.
Ten students received the scholarship: five from Bishop’s College and five Hillsborough Secondary School.
