Jeverson Ramirez Becomes First Grenadian On The American Idol Show

The Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture congratulates Grenadian Soul/Pop Artiste Jeverson Ramirez on receiving a golden ticket on his audition on the ABC American Idol Show, which was aired on Sunday night, affording him the opportunity to travel to Hollywood for the next round of competition.

Ramirez, who is from the village of Mardigras, St. George’s made history by being the first Grenadian artiste to perform on the American Idol stage.

Jeverson Ramirez is well known for his sweet soulful voice and energetic performances at events throughout Grenada as well as abroad.

The Grenadian singer/songwriter thrilled judges with his international flavour, which, according to judge Lionel Richie, made quite an impression as the show celebrates its “twenty-first birthday around the world”.

Being a proud representative of the Spice Isle of the Caribbean, Jeverson was seen waving his Grenada flag and his golden ticket in the American Idol video which circulated on Facebook on Monday.

Minister of State with responsibility for Youth and Sports, Hon. Ron Redhead said this achievement by Ramirez speaks volumes of the talents that young Grenadians possess. He also commended the Grenadian artiste for his perseverance and zeal in pursuing his musical dreams. He said Ramirez is a living example that dreams come true if you remain focused.

Minister Redhead stated that the government will continue to push the creative arts industry as one of the areas that will identify, develop, and promote the skills and creativity that exist in the Grenadian people.
