Heng Sheng Development (Grenada) PTE. Ltd. is pleased to announce that the groundbreaking ceremony to mark the commencement of the Grenada National Resort project was held in Levera, St. Patrick, on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
After two and a half years of entering an agreement with the Government of Grenada for the development of a luxury resort and golf course, the Singapore-based developers finally broke ground on the project, in the presence of hundreds, including government officials, company representatives, tourism and Citizenship by Investment stakeholders, local and international investment agents, and partners and members of the Grenadian community. The ceremony was held at the site of the project in picturesque Levera, St. Patrick.
The three-hour long program saw entertainment, reception, and featured speeches, including by the Prime Minister, Honourable Dickon Mitchell; Minister Lennox Andrews, Minister for Economic Development, Planning, Tourism, ICT and the Creative Economy, Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives with responsibility for Economic Development; Minister for Infrastructural Development, Civil Aviation, and Transport, as well as Member of Parliament for St. Patrick, Honourable Denis Cornwall; and lead developer for the Grenada National Resort, Chairman Mr. Yuanfa Li.
In expressing the government’s support for the project, the Honourable Prime Minister noted, “Development has a price, and you cannot have development without changing the physical landscape and physical infrastructure. What is required is for the changes to be done in a responsible, sensitive, and sustained manner. And Mr Li and his group have given us the assurance that they intend to do so.”
Project developer, Mr. Li stated, “The Grenada National Resort is of great significance in guiding the transformation of Grenada’s tourism industry, promoting local economic development and employment. “
In 2019, the then-government signed an agreement with Heng Sheng PTE Ltd. to develop the Levera site in an initiative that Heng Sheng believes will economically and sustainably transform the Northern untapped and unspoilt parish of St. Patrick, bringing hundreds of direct jobs and spin-off benefits in tourism, agriculture, and other supporting sectors. The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant delays in the commencement of the project, but Heng Sheng has remained committed to delivering on the commitment to the government and people of Grenada to bring jobs, opportunities, and diverse tourism offerings to St. Patrick.
