The Grenada Football Association (GFA) has introduced a longer version to its 2023 Sandals National U15 Boys tournament, announced in a launch held earlier this week. At the press launch which took place at the GFA Conference room, President Marlon Glean said the tournament will now run for six months instead of six weeks. He said, “ What we tried to do was pack as much football as possible into the year and the longer tournament provides an opportunity for players to develop over a period of time with more on the field experience and training.”
The President also announced that matches will be played on weekends in primetime so that parents and fans can have a chance to come out and show their support while players show their talent in front of a crowd.
For the 5th tournament this year, 20 teams have registered and Sandals Grenada Resorts and Spa has pledged its continued sponsorship to the development league. President Glean thanked the organization for supporting the development of the next generation of footballers. Representing Sandals Grenada was Mrs. Nasha Smith Bailey, Director of Sales, Groups and Conventions. She said, “Sandals Grenada is delighted to sponsor another season of the National U15 Tournament and we look forward to a successful tournament and contributing to the development of football throughout the nation.
The Sandals GFA National U15 Tournament will be launched on Saturday 22nd April, 2023 at the Cuthbert Peters Park at 2:30pm with an evening of exciting exhibition matches. The competition will see the registered teams divided into two groups and playing amongst each other to arrive at a quarterfinals, semifinals and final. Paradise FCI are the defending champions and they have won the tournament three times.
