Halls of Justice to Be Constructed in Carriacou and Petite Martinique

Hillsborough, Carriacou, October 26th, 2023 – Preliminary work has commenced on the design and construction of a Halls of Justice for Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Registrar in the Attorney General’s Office, Xiomara Cherubim-Forsyth, led a consultation with the project’s main stakeholders, police officers and staff of the Magistrate’s Court. Their input in the design of the building is critical, she said.
Mrs. Cherubim-Forsyth said the halls of justice building must be one that is comfortable for both staff and users, including persons with social cases.
She was supported by Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Javan Williams, and Chief Technical Officer in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Kevin Blache, and staff of his Ministry.
The Halls of Justice for Carriacou and Petite Martinique is proposed to be constructed close to the site of the new Ministerial Complex.
At present, the local Magistrate Court is located upstairs the Carriacou Police Station and has several Infrastructure issues.
The construction of the Halls of Justice follows an official visit by a team headed by Attorney General Senator the Hon. Claudette Joseph. They noted the condition under which Magistrate and Staff have to work.
Upon completion of the preliminary designs, it will be shared with the wider public for input.
