New National Party Engages In Key IMF Economic Consultation For Grenada

In a significant engagement, delegates from the New National Party (NNP), including Dr. The Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, Hon Emmalin Pierre, Gregory Bowen, and Oliver Joseph, participated in the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Article IV consultation on Thursday, 12th June in St George’s, Grenada.

This four-member delegation, approved by the NNP’s executive, shared serious concerns about the current economic situation and the performance of the economy, highlighting the plights citizens and businesses face. The team hopes that these insights will contribute to a broader understanding that will guide future economic policies.

Some of the issues highlighted by the NNP team include the abuse of the CBI program, the misuse of state resources, cuts in social programs, reduction in the percentage required for the contingency fund, and alterations to the wage bill rule and implications.

The NNP is committed to a truthful representation of Grenada’s economic landscape, to help shape strategies that aim to enhance Grenada’s economic trajectory.
In responding to the issues raised by the Political Leader, The IMF head of mission recognized the economic achievements made under the leadership of the former Prime Minister and the NNP administration.

The NNP party is satisfied with the outcome of our recent meeting and proud of the insights shared by our team with the IMF. The New National Party remains dedicated to its mission of fostering progress and prosperity for all Grenadians.
