The Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, and Marine Resources extends congratulations to 3 of its Extension Assistants who have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Climate Resilient Agricultural Extension for Community Development at the Faculty of Food and Agriculture, The UWI, St Augustine.
The Extension Assistants, Marcia Lord, Brenda Phillip (with merit), and Theodel Stephen, completed the professional development one-year training, which equipped them with skills and knowledge to better serve the agricultural community and address the evolving challenges in the sector with innovative solutions and leadership.
Chief Extension Officer (Ag) Lauren St Louis acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the officers, who undertook the academic journey while balancing their professional responsibilities. “This success is not only a personal milestone but significant to us at the ministry. We are hopeful that this accomplishment will result in increased support for farmers, enhanced productivity, and will help to develop the agriculture sector.”
The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Forestry, and Marine Resources provided the officers with tuition and fees for the postgraduate programme. The ministry remains committed to promoting agricultural training and education that is expected of a cadre of individuals that will acquire leadership roles in agriculture and will be involved in agricultural sustainability, food security, and resilience.
