Governmen Continues To Support The Rebuilding Of Carriacou And Petite Martinique

Prime Minister Hon. Dickon Mitchell has reiterated his commitment to the rebuilding in Carriacou and Petite Martinique where his administration, through the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, is supporting a number of initiatives in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, which caused severe damage to the islands.

The Prime Minister was recently on Carriacou to assess the recovery work. He visited the Windward Pre-Primary School and the Dover Government School, where he gained insights on ongoing efforts and to find out about additional needs, with the aim of addressing immediate requirements, while also planning for long-term resilience.

“Our commitment remains steadfast in ensuring that our people receive the support and resources needed to rebuild stronger for the future,” Prime Minister Mitchell said.

The Prime Minister and his team, which included Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Tevin Andrews, witnessed the “Return to Happiness” programme which is supported by UNICEF. He described the programme as a beautiful reminder of the resilience and hope of the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

And, with housing being one of the main concerns, visits were paid to several “Project Build Back Better” project sites.
