
Renew Beauty & Lifeskills Institute Grenada is delighted to announce the successful launch of its strategic partnership with the world-renowned, accredited Milady International.
This collaboration aims to provide interested students with unparalleled access to world-class educational resources that opens the door to career and employment opportunities in a multi-million-dollar beauty industry.
The launch event, hosted at the True Blue Bay Resort on Friday, 24th January 2025, featured keynote speeches from engaging leaders from both companies. Persons in attendance included representatives from the T.A. Marryshow Community College, Ministry of Youth, Ministry of Health, Principal of the Boca Secondary School, Representative of Nexa Credit Union, parents and students. Attendees were introduced to the innovative courses hosted by Renew Beauty Institute, which will serve as the educational hub in the Grenadian beauty industry that is certified by Milady Standard who is accredited by IACET the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training.
“I am proud to have the opportunity to represent Milady USA and the opportunity to provide excellence in training,” said Genel Forteau, CEO of Renew Beauty Institute. Forteau, who has been a cosmetologist and certified master educator in the Grenadian beauty industry for almost 20 years, expressed enthusiasm at the potential impact of this partnership on young people in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. “We need to empower people in the right way so parents can see that a good career is not only becoming a doctor or a lawyer. If we are taught in the correct way, we have the opportunity not to just make people look beautiful but feel beautiful as well.”
Milady Signature School echoed this sentiment. “Today we are happy to come to Grenada and know that it is in the hands of somebody that we truly believe has the true, open and clear passion about bringing to Grenada something that is going to change the education standards,” said Althea James, CEO of Milady Signature School Caribbean. Ms. James also remarked on the history of Milady in that it has set the standards for the beauty industry internationally for almost 100 years. “When you think of Milady, you are part of a company that nobody in the Caribbean thought they could be part of.”
The courses offered at Renew Beauty Institute Grenada include cosmetology, hairdressing, makeup artistry, nail technology, barbering, aesthetics. These technical courses are well rounded and catered to students as well as teachers. There are also courses in life skills and entrepreneurship to prepare students for the world of work.
Students from the Cosmetology Programme at the T.A. Marryshow Community College exhibited their burgeoning skills at the launch through modelling their own hairstyles and make-up looks to the attendees. Dr. Philomena Cato, the Associate Dean from the School of Continuing Education, also expressed hope in the growth of the programme to improve the beauty industry in Grenada through this new partnership.
Renew Beauty Institute Grenada is the latest in a series of Milady Signature School partnerships that were launched in the Caribbean, including the islands of Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica.
