NADMA Distributes Donations From The Kingdom Saudia Arabia To Essential Agencies Across Grenada Carriacou And Petite Martinique

The Government of Grenada is pleased to announce the nationwide distribution of humanitarian aid generously donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This initiative reflects the strong bi-lateral relationship between the two nations and their shared commitment to humanitarian support, sustainable development, and global cooperation platforms such as the United Nations.

This donation, officially handed over in January 2025, reflects the deepening partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to humanitarian support and global solidarity in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl in July 2024.

The aid—comprising 21 containers of essential supplies including food, chainsaws, diesel generators, flashlights, first aid and hygiene kits, and emergency shelter materials valued at EC5.3 million —was officially handed over in January 2025. The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) is overseeing its distribution.

This donation, part of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre’s Global outreach, aims to:

1. Provide essential support to affected communities via parliamentary offices and hurricane shelters.

2. Replenish critical resources for our emergency shelters and response plan.

3. Enhance our preparedness for future challenges.

These resources are part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian efforts through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.

Prime Minister and Minister for Disaster Management, Honourable Dickon Mitchell expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of his constituency stating, “We are sincerely grateful to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this generous support. These supplies will significantly strengthen our relief not only in St. David, but across the nation and improve our resilience as we prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.”

NaDMA will coordinate the distribution through relevant ministries and agencies, prioritising
vulnerable communities in northern Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique. Supplies will also be allocated to key institutions such as police stations, health centers, and schools. Perishable items will be distributed based on expiration timelines to ensure timely use.
