The High Commission for Grenada to Canada is pleased to announce its reestablishment in the City of Ottawa on 14 November 2025.

Since the closure of Grenada’s independent diplomatic representation in Ottawa during the 1990s, Grenada was represented through joint Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) representation until its subsequent closure in 2011.

Grenada’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Canada His Excellency Sylvester Quarless officially presented his Letter of Introduction to the Rt. Hon, Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, from Prime Minister Hon. Dickon Mitchell on Wednesday, 17 September 2025.

Hon. Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade & Export Development, was present for the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon. George Griffith and Jennifer Hosten-Craig, Grenada’s first and second High Commissioners to Canada, also attended the event. Officials from Global Affairs Canada, the Diplomatic Corps and the Grenadian Diaspora joined in the celebrations.

The High Commission remains committed to facilitating the strengthening of bilateral relations with Canada. High Commissioner Quarless reaffirmed Grenada’s intention to fortify its relationship with its diaspora community throughout Canada. The office will facilitate collective engagements with the diaspora to harness their skills, knowledge, finances and resources to contribute to the developmental process in the tri-island state.

Honourable Andall thanked the Government and people of Canada for accepting to host the Grenada High Commission in Ottawa. He commended Canada for its evolving relationship with Grenada since establishing diplomatic relations on 7 February 1974. The Government of Canada has been very instrumental in Grenada’s development through bilateral cooperation. These have been implemented under the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the recent Canada-Caricom Strategic Partnership.

Minister Andall and High Commissioner Quarless, on behalf of the High Commission, accepted a donation of a painting from the collection of Joseph Clarke, a Grenadian-Canadian Artist.

The re-established High Commission is located at 350 Sparks Street, Suite 1210, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is expected to bridge the gap between the Grenadian Diaspora in Canada and the homeland to ensure the continuation of the Grenadian culture and heritage through second and third generations and a sustainable future for Grenada.
